This will be a 6 round Swiss Tournament of 3 sections

Open - Open to all players
Major - Open to all players graded under 145
Minor - Open to all players graded under 110

Time Control

The time control in all sections will be: All moves in 20 minutes plus 10 second increment per move.

Grading and Rating

Eligibility for grade-restricted sections will be determined by the August 2019 ECF Rapidplay grading list. All sections will be ECF graded and FIDE-rated. The following priority will be used for section allocation and seeding:

(1) ECF Rapidplay Grade

(2) November 2019 FIDE Rapidplay Rating (converted using the formula: (FIDE – 700) / 7.5, or the latest ECF recommended formula)

(3) ECF Standardplay Grade

(4) Other Rating Assigned by the Organiser

Ungraded Players

Ungraded players must give details of estimated playing strength. Ungraded players who cannot demonstrate a playing strength appropriate for their section must play in the Open.

Pairings will be made according to FIDE Pairing Rules by the Swiss Manager computer program.

The Chief Arbiter’s decision shall be final in all disputes relating to either the Laws of Chess or Swiss pairings.

Travelling to the Rapidplay
The nearest A-road is the A45, take the exit for Broad Lane, where the Wing Wah Restaurant is located, then drive straight to the venue for another 5 minutes.

Take the train to Coventry Rail Station. Exit the station and take a short 5-10 minute walk to Bus Stop CR3 on Croft Road, opposite the IKEA and the Iceland. Then take the 6A or 10 bus to the venue at Nova Croft Bus Stop (both take about 20 minutes).

ParkingFree parking is available at the Massey Ferguson Social Club, other free parking is available in surrounding streets.

Photographs will be taken of the tournament, please let us know if you do not wish to appear in any of our chess-related tournament photographs.

Data Protection
Only personal data relevant for grading purposes, will be shared with the ECF and FIDE.

Snacks and hot food is expected to be available across the day, specific opening times tbc. Only food and beverage purchased at the club can be consumed on its premises.

Tournament Websites
The Tournament Websites will provide players the details to enter the event, pay for their entry, and see an up-to-date list of players who have entered the tournament. Full standings of each section will be published after the tournament.

Mobile Phones & Electronic Devices
Mobile phones and electronic devices are only permitted in the playing area provided the device is completely switched off. During play, such devices must be placed in a bag as agreed with the arbiter.
Both players are forbidden to use this bag without permission of the arbiter.

The venue is wheelchair accessible.
