Summer Cup - First Round Results


First Round of the Summer Cup was held last night (27/3/2018). First, it was nice to welcome players from Rugby and some of their Juniors. Usually we come to expect some upsets in results however this time all the seeds won. Although Ian Evans came very close to winning on time against Bava and Paul Sweatman pushed Roy Watson all the way in his match.

There is a break next Tuesday - 3rd April as it is Easter week - the Second Round is on Tuesday 10th April 7.30pm.Start (or when Zumba finishes!)

Summer Cup - First Round

The first round of the Summer Cup is on the 27th March 2018

There will be a break over Easter then the following five rounds on each Tuesday. 10th, 17th,24th April and 1st May with the last round on the 8th May.

Currently we have over 25 entrants and I would also like to welcome several entrants from other clubs - Rugby and Kenilworth

I will try and post the results of each round on a weekly basis.

Anyone who has not put their name down yet still has time to enter. Just drop me an email to say you wish to join.

Warwickshire Congress Results

A number of Coventry players competed in the Warwickshire Congress which took place during the worst of the snow from March 2nd to 4th.

Dave Ireland finished first in the Under 1975 with 4/5

John Conway was 3rd = in the Under 140 with 3 ½ /5

John Harris finished just outside the prizes in the Under 140 with 3/5 after losing a tense last round game which could have gone either way.

Nuneaton Chess Club - New Venue

I have been advised by Colin Green that as from January 1st 2018 Nuneaton Chess Club will be playing at the following venue: -

There is street car parking but also a car park at the rear accessed 
from George Street and a passageway to the front of the building.

When you are playing there for the first time please allow a few extra minutes to find the venue. 
Colin has also advised us that, as with most licenced premises we are not permitted to bring in our own food or drink.
